Tourism Fund

Tourism Fund is a body corporate established under the Tourism Act, 2011 which came into operation on 1st September, 2012 vide special issue Kenya Gazette Supplement No. 93 of 24th August, 2012.The Fund is the legal successor to Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees. Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees has been in existence since.

Kenya Utalii College

(KUC) is a leading African hospitality and tourism training institution which has served over 60,000 graduates who continue to serve in the local and international hospitality and tourism industry. The College opened its doors in 1975 and was established under the Hotels and Restaurants Act, (Cap. 494, Laws of Kenya) which has since been replaced by the Tourism Act, 2011.

Tourism Regulatory Authority

Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA) is a corporate body established under section 4 of the Tourism Act No.28 of 2011 and is mandated to regulate the tourism sector in Kenya. This entails developing regulations, standards and guidelines that are necessary to ensure an all-round quality service delivery in the tourism sector.

Kenya Safari Lodges and Hotels Limited

Kenya Safari Lodges and Hotels Limited (KSLH) being a government parastatal mandated with the provision of premium hotel and lodge accommodation, current conference and business meeting venues, customized beach and safari experiences as well as high value niche products, has geared its core activities towards achieving Vision 2030.

The Kenyatta International Convention Centre

(KICC) is a State Corporation established under the Tourism Act 2011 whose objective and purpose is to promote the business of Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Exhibitions also known as MICE. The facility boasts a conference room with a capacity of over 4000 delegates.

Tourism Finance Corporation

(TFC) is a specialized Development Financial Institution (DFI) established by the government of Kenya through Tourism Act No.28 of 2011. Its mission is to develop and diversify Kenya´s tourism industry by providing a range of financial services to investors in tourism related enterprises.

Ushanga Kenya Initiative

Ushanga Kenya Initiative is a national initiative that was established back in 2017.The aim of this initiative is to create jobs and transformation of the living standards of the pastoralist women through commercialization of beadwork which has otherwise been a traditional activity with little economic benefits to the communities.

National Heroes Council

National Heroes Council (NHC) is a state corporation established by the Kenya Heroes Act No 5 of 2014 in accordance with the State Corporation Act (CAP. 446), State Department of Culture and Heritage in the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage.

Kenya Wildlife Service

Kenya Wildlife Service is a state corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament (Cap 376), now repealed by WCMA (2013), with the mandate to conserve and manage wildlife in Kenya, and to enforce related laws and regulations. KWS undertakes conservation and management of wildlife resources across all protected areas systems in collaboration with stakeholders. The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) conserves and manages Kenya’s wildlife for the Kenyan people and the world.

Wildlife Research & Training Institute

The WRTI , established under Section 50 of the Wildlife Conservation and Management Act, 2013 and operationalized through Gazette Notice No. 4862 on 17 July 2020 is mandated to conduct and coordinate wildlife research and academic training in the country to enhance planning and decision making in wildlife conservation and management. The Executive Order No.1 of 2018 (May, 2020 revised) places the Institute as a State corporation under the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. Section 52 of the WCMA 2013 provides for the functions of WRTI.

Tourism Research Institute

Tourism Research Institute is a State Corporation established by the Tourism Act 2011 with a mandate to undertake and coordinate tourism research and data analysis for the country. This is to ensure that the research and knowledge gaps that exist in the sector are addressed. TRI is therefore the principal reference point for generating data and research information to inform decision making by the government and private sector on tourism matters so as to ensure competitiveness of destination Kenya and sustained growth in the global, regional and domestic markets.

National Museums of Kenya

National Museums of Kenya (NMK) is a state corporation established by an Act of Parliament, the Museums and Heritage Act 2006. NMK is a multi-disciplinary institution whose role is to collect, preserve, study, document and present Kenya’s past and present cultural and natural heritage. This is for the purposes of enhancing knowledge, appreciation, respect and sustainable utilization of these resources for the benefit of Kenya and the world, for now and posterity. NMK’s mutual concern for the welfare of mankind and the conservation of the biological diversity of the East African region and that of the entire planet demands success in such efforts.

Kenya National Archives and Documentation Services

Kenya National Archives and Documentation Services (KNADS) is situated at the edge of the central business district in downtown Nairobi along Moi Avenue next to Ambassadeur Hotel. It was established in 1965 and It holds 40,000 volumes. It was established by an Act of the Parliament of Kenya in 1965 and was placed under the office of the Vice President and the Minister of Home Affairs. It is currently under the office of the Vice-President and State Department for Culture and Heritage and Culture.
